Annual Campaign changes thousands of lives every year by promoting the Y’s impact and making programs accessible to those struggling in our community. The foundation of this movement is volunteers building relationships through the Y’s mission. Volunteer Campaigners reach out to community-minded people to talk about the Y’s impact and ask them to donate to our financial assistance and program subsidy funds. Bring BRIGHT smiles to the faces of children and youth! Volunteer at a sports activation or help us set-up our award-winning teen bands as they prepare to rock out and jam on the big stage! Help kids live out their dreams as a future professional athlete or simply encourage them to stay active and get moving. Help with set-up and clean-up or support with checking in volunteers and partners. Find your flow as a volunteer at HKD! Not only does it offer you an opportunity to give back, but it comes with a lot of fun, a fresh HKD Volunteer t-shirts, verification letter of hours served for your job, school, college application or internship and the satisfaction of knowing that kids are healthier, happier and more active, because of YOU! Come out to a DAY OF PLAY for LA and volunteer! Through our three integrated areas of impact – Healthy Living, Youth Development, Social Impact – the LA Y serves as the Center for Community Well-Being, dedicated to nurturing the full potential of individuals and communities across Los Angeles. On Sunday, April 13, 2025, join thousands of community members from the LA region in celebration of the 33rd Annual Healthy Kids Day®! As the Y’s largest national initiative, Healthy Kids Day® is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of kids and families. For over 30 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles has hosted free community Healthy Kids Day events designed to inspire children and families to stay active—both mentally and physically—throughout the summer and beyond. This year, we continue that tradition by showcasing how the Y helps build healthy, resilient kids through programs, services, advocacy, partnerships, social-emotional learning, and more. In 2022, we united all 28 YMCA centers and 210 YMCA program sites to host our first centralized Healthy Kids Day® at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum—an effort we continued in 2023 and 2024, bringing thousands of families from the LA region and dozens of partners together to uplift and elevate the community. In 2025, we are excited to return to the LA Memorial Coliseum for another Day of PLAY for LA! Healthy Kids Day® is a free event, open to all! FROM CRADLE TO COMMUNITY WELL-BEING Healthy Kids Day® is one of the largest community-based health, sports and family events in Los Angeles. The YMCA’s Cradle to Community Well-Being Youth Development strategy aims to help youth reach their best outcomes for success through programs, services, initiatives, partnerships and advocacy; Healthy Kids Day serves as a pivotal stop on every child’s road to well-being.

The YMCA Early Learning Readiness (ELR) program provides a stimulating environment to help children (0-5 years) develop the physical, verbal, and social skills which they'll need to be school-ready. During the program, caregivers learn how children develop and how to encourage skill building at home. Before early learners walk into a school classroom, their primary caregivers at home are their first teachers. Through this Caregiver & Child class, family will find a safe, fun place to play, explore, and learn through songs, stories, and family activities with their children. The YMCA is seeking program volunteers to assist with program set-up and program clean-up and to also assist the ELR Instructor with tasks during the program session, such as assisting with prepping supplies and materials, helping families check-in and greeting families when they arrive.
